July 4, 2011 Road Trip! Headed for Arizonia with a lot of stops along the way. Our first overnight stay is Tuscloosa, Alabama. We left Winston Salem at 8 a.m. and arrived in Alabama around 5 p.m. central time. We ran into a lot of heavy rainstorms from Georgia to Alabama and it is still raining. Traffic through Atlanta were the worst drivers I have ever encountered in 40 years of driving! In heavy traffic, we had two cars pass us on the right shoulder of the road going 60 mph! Scary. I am glad we don't come back through Atlanta on our return trip.
Tomorrow we are headed to Vicksburg, Mississippi to tour the military civil war museum, coca cola museum, antebellam home tours and Mississippi river front. Tonight we are enjoying the motel pool, whirlpool, and workout room. Little Johnny(Bubba) says the room we are staying in is very nice. He says the trip was really long and he hopes we have a shorter drive tomorrow(we will).
